Structural Biology

Structural Biology aims to solve the 3D structure of biological macromolecules from proteins, to nucleotides, to ligands. Depending on the modality the resolution can be better than 1 Å. The highest resolution can usually be achieved by macromolecular X-ray crystallography (MX) followed by Cryo Electron Microscopy. Other modalities used for structural biology include Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) or Small Angle Scattering (SAXS).
