PROF. Shadi Albarqouni

Shadi Albarqouni is a Palestinian-German Professor of Computational Medical Imaging Research at the University of Bonn, and an AI Young Investigator Group Leader at Helmholtz AI. Previously, he worked as a Visiting Scientist at Imperial College London and ETH Zurich, and as a Senior Research Scientist & Team Lead at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Shadi has more than 100 publications (Citations > 4100, h-index: 21) in Medical Imaging Computing, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning. Shadi has been actively serving the community as a reviewer, session chair, area chair, program committee member, organizing committee member, and Program co-Chair at MICCAI, MIDL, ISBI, among other conferences. Based on his excellence and outstanding achievements, Shadi has been elected as a member of the European Lab for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS), and the Arab-German Young Academy (AGYA). Besides, he actively works in supporting and promoting scientists and researchers in Low-Middle Income Countries (LMICs) by co-founding the Palestine Young Academy (PYA) and RISE-MICCAI community. His current research interests include Interpretable ML, Robustness, Uncertainty quantification, and Federated Learning. He is also interested in Entrepreneurship and Startups for Innovative Medical Solutions, in particular, knowledge transfer to developing and emerging countries.
