Serial crystallography (SX)

Serial crystallography is a method for making diffraction measurements from crystals. A series of crystals are delivered into the path of the X-ray beam (by a liquid jet, tape drive or other system), and a single diffraction pattern is acquired from each one. The datasets are processed by indexing and integrating each individual diffraction pattern, and combining the results from many thousands of crystals.

Contrast with rotation crystallography, where a series of multiple diffraction patterns are acquired from one crystal.
