Klas Ove Möller is Biological Oceanographer and head of department “Biological Carbon Pump and Plankton” at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon. His work is focusing on various aspects of the Biological Carbon Pump and Plankton biodiversity, especially the cross-shelf transport of organic particles and their impact on the vertical flux in the ocean. His primary research interest is the small- to mesoscale distribution of plankton and particles, and how bio-physical interactions affect the biodiversity and carbon flux in different marine ecosystems. He has a strong background and experience (>20 years) in new in-situ measurement techniques for ocean observation and monitoring (especially high-resolution imaging and AUVs) as well as coordination and management of large-scale projects (e.g. SOOP and MUSE).
